Abstract

In August 2019 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.40 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2012 = 100) of 134.06. The August 2019 calendar year inflation rate was 1.95 percent while the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2019 against August 2018 or YoY) was as high as 2.45 percent.

Five expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group VI (education, recreation, and sports) as high as 5.12 percent; group IV (clothing) as high as 1.02 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.50 percent; group II (prepared food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco) as high as 0.10 percent; and group I (food ingredients) as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, two expenditure groups recorded deflation, i.e

group VII (transport, communication and financial services) as deep as -0.68 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel) as deep as -0.06 percent.
