Abstract

In January 2019 the city of Denpasar recorded inflation of 0.62 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2012 = 100) of 132.31. The January 2019 calendar year inflation rate was 0.62 percent while the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2019 against January 2018 or YoY) was 3.07 percent. Commodities recorded contributing to or contributing to inflation in January 2019 include: air transport rates, rental rates for houses, chicken meat, shallots, bottled water, and cayenne peppers.

From 82 CPI cities, there were 73 cities experiencing inflation and 9 cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan (Bangka Belitung) by 1.23 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Pematang Siantar (North Sumatra) by 0.01 percent. The deepest deflation was recorded in Tual (North Maluku) by 0.87 percent and the shallowerest in Merauke (Papua) by 0.01 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, then Denpasar ranks 17th out of 73 cities experiencing inflation.
